The Impact of the Zimmerman Telegram

The Zimmermann Telegram was a secret diplomatic communication sent by the German Empire to Mexico in January 1917, during World War I. It was authored by German Foreign Minister Arthur Zimmermann and proposed a military alliance between Germany and Mexico in the event that the United States entered the war against Germany. In return, Germany promised to support Mexico in regaining territories lost to the U.S., such as Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
