SLEDGE HOCKEY DRILLS AND SKILLS | HOW TO TURN

This is the beginning of a series of videos where I focus primarily on the fundamental basics of getting into the sport. Many of you may already be above these drills, but I wanted to get some content out there for people who know nothing about the sport. The first video here is talking about turning with different blade widths. It’s very hard to learn how to turn and get onto your edge of your blades with 5” wide blades. Even on 3” it can be hard. Here are a couple techniques and areas you can focus on: - Find your proper set up. Adjust your sled for the proper length, and adjust your blade position so your sled is balanced properly with the front end hovering above the ice. You don’t want it to be dragging when you skate. - Think about your hand placement on your sticks. If using your stick as a pivot point, you’re holding further to the top.
