China’s first domestically-built aircraft carrier set out from a port for sea trials Sunday morning.
The new aircraft carrier, built by the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company, was launched on April 26, 2017.
This is China’s second aircraft carrier after the “Liaoning,“ a refitted Soviet Union-made carrier that was put into commission in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy in 2012.
Both Liaoning and the new ship are ski-jump type carriers.
