Santa Esmeralda 7: Green Talisman [Full Album + Bonus] (1982)

Santa Esmeralda’s 7th album was released in 1982 as “Jimmy Goings & Santa Esmeralda“ with the title track Green Talisman seeing a return to the flamenco-rock-disco sound of their iconic 1977 single Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood. The album included an ecclectic mix of ballads (Sweet Fusion and Eternal Light), Latin tracks (Children Of Sanchez and Siboney) and harder-edged rock tracks (Fortune Teller and Eye Of The Cat), but it was not successful and the group quietly disbanded and would not be revived before the mid-90s when the original lead singer Leroy Gomez acquired the rights to the name and started touring with a new set up. Jimmy Goings, the lead singer on six of their albums, now lives in California and occasionally performs as Generation Esmeralda. I have expanded the album with the single version of Green Talisman and an unreleased recording, a cover of Deep Purple’s Soldier Of Fortune, by Jimmy Goings from 1983, and three remixes of Misunderstood from 1986, 1990 and 1993 respectively.
