New York Mets Jacob deGrom Warms Up To Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Simple Man - 8/7/22

On Sunday August 7th, New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom made his 2022 home debut at CitiField against the Atlanta Braves. SNY and Mets Director John DeMarsico made the brilliant decision to show deGrom take his pregame warm-up pitches without cutting to commercial as broadcasters Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez all remained silent so that deGrom’s warm-up music (Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Simple Man) could be heard coming through the PA system. It turned an already dramatic moment (as the Mets were trying to win 4 out of 5 against their division rivals) into an all-time classic.
