Making a Plague Doctor Mask

#blacksmith #blacksmithing #sculpture In this video, I construct a plague doctor mask from 18 gauge mild steel. Worn during the 17th through 19th centuries, these masks had a beaklike protuberance that was filled with aromatic herbs. this was though to protect the wearer from the putrid air or miasma. The belief was, that this miasma was the method of infection. As these masks present an undeniably creepy aspect, I felt I would capitalize on this with a haphazard, disjointed construction style.
