Amanda Lear: Tam Tam [Full Album, Lyrics + Videos] (1983)

By 1983, 41 years ago, Amanda Lear - now approaching 44 years - saw her recording career falter, and the hits were drying up. She wanted to adopt a rockier sound which her record label Ariola disagreed with, and the disagreement between the two parties led to Amanda seeking to be released from her contract. She lost her case and she was forced to deliver a sixth album to Ariola. She first recorded a single with her previous sound engineer Peter Lüdemann, Love Your Body, catching in on the aerobic craze, backed with Darkness And Light. She had a Top 30 hit with it in Belgium but it flopped elsewhere, despite it being a catchy single and her performing it on several TV shows. With an opportunity to appear on a prestigious TV show Premiatissima in Italy, she hooked up with a young Italian producer Roberto Cacciapaglia for the album Tam Tam, focusing on italo disco with a black magic theme, which was recorded in the summer of 1983. “I got to produce some beautiful videos for the songs but nobody liked the album,“ said Amanda many years later when looking back at it. Ariola Germany made no effort to promote it due to the soured relationship they had with Amanda. They did not even bother to release one single from single. The Italian label went for No Regrets but despite her TV performances it didn’t chart.
