Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3

Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 is generally believed to be composed in 1800, although some contemporary musicologist have questioned the year of composition. At the first performance in 1803, Beethoven himself was the soloist. Beethoven’s friend Ignaz von Seyfried, who turned the pages during the performance wrote that he almost saw nothing but empty pages. At the most on one page or another a few Egyptian hieroglyphics. Beethoven played nearly all the solo parts from memory since, as often was the case, he did not have time yet to set it all down on paper.
