Rockets From Russia’s Ally Turned On Putin’s Men? Ukraine Is Using North Korean Artillery Shells
Ukrainian soldiers have been found in the possession of North Korean arms which they are reportedly using to attack Russian positions in the ongoing war. Ukrainian artillery crews have been firing rockets made in North Korea near the eastern city of Bakhmut, as per a Financial Times report. This means that Kyiv has in effect turned Pyongyang’s munitions against the invasion forces of its ally Moscow.
As per the Financial Times, Ukrainian crews have been firing the North Korean rockets using Soviet-era Grad multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS). The FT report quoted a Ukrainian artillery commander saying that North Korean munitions were not favoured by his troops because of their high dud rate. The Ukrainian soldier added that North Korean shells are prone to misfire or failure as most were manufactured in the 1980s and 1990s. The Ukrainian soldier warned the FT reporter not to get too close to the rocket launcher as the shells “are very unreliable and do crazy things sometimes.”
