50 Warships From 20 Countries Arrive in Baltic Sea As Russian Nuclear Threat Increases 50 warships, more than 45 aircraft and 6,000 personnel from Twenty NATO allied countries arrived in the Baltic Sea to participate in Operation sea. Nato deployed warships and thousands of personnel from twenty countries to provide allies and NATO partners with opportunities for large-scale maritime and amphibious operations near Russia. Baltic Sea is an arm of the Atlantic Ocean that is surrounded by Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Sweden, and the North and Central European Plains.
