Restoration Of Frontier Dagger - Steel Border Defender

Hi! Today, the restoration of the Caucasian dagger. I bought this dagger in Georgia, on the outskirts of the Kakheti region. The condition is bad. A lot of rust, something like a scabbard. There was no stamp-mark on the blade. There is a lot of work. This dagger was forged in the third or fourth quarter of the 19th century. I’m starting to restore the item. I removed the first and main layer of rust from the dagger with the help of a rust removal liquid, then neutralization from the acid effect with soda and water. Firstly, I used an iron soft brush, then I realized that grinding would be required. I used sandpaper from 120 to 600. After sanding, I used a mixture for additional cleaning after grinding and a diamond paste. Traditionally, I made the handle for the Caucasian dagger from buffalo horn. I welded the horn pads, and then with the help of clamps I shaped them. I used 19th century silver parts for the rivets. The sheath for the Caucasian dagger was made of linden. Pasted over with natural black leather. The suspension also used 19th century silver. I made only a “ball“ (for the end of the scabbard) from the accessories for the scabbard. I decorated the ball itself with a brass puncture, having previously cut the grooves, and then engraved it manually I sharpened the dagger slightly, because it is mine, and according to tradition, I conducted a test for you. Don’t forget to share this video. Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention! Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
