Jazz dance is a remarkable form of indigenous American dance, formed from a union of African and European cultural and musical influences. However it is often misunderstood in terms of how to define it, and to examine it’s various aspects. In this video presentation, jazz dance choreographer and professor Bob Boross give background on the original formation of jazz dance, it’s movement characteristics, and how those characteristics are visible in contemporary forms of jazz dance.
