Al & Leon Shim Sham Re-Edit with Synchronised Music

In this early 1950s archival footage, legendary jazz dancers Albert “Al“ Minns and Leon James lead other Savoy Ballroom dancers in their version of the Shim Sham (today called the “Al & Leon Shim Sham“ or sometimes the “Savoy Shim Sham“). This footage was filmed by Mura Dehn and included in her documentary on jazz dancing “The Spirit Moves“ (Part 2). The documentary unfortunately did not use original sound recording, but put a different song over the footage, which did not synchronise with the choreography. The documentary also used camera angle changes and cuts that do not show the choreography in linear order. Sharon Davis has here re-edited the footage to be in correct chronological order and synchronised it as well as possible with the song “Stomping at the Renny“ by Edgar Hayes & His Orchestra.
