Anglo French Soapbox Rally (1956)

Lydd, Kent. Various shots show scouts in soapbox pedal cars at Ferryfield Airport; they drive into the hold of a plane as commentator explains that they are travelling to France to introduce soapbox ’motor racing’ to their French counterparts. Nice M/S of the aeroplane taking off; aerial shots of the French coastline and the town of Le Touquet. M/S of the plane slowing to a halt on the tarmac; a small group of French scouts wave their hats to welcome the British ones. The British scouts are seen driving their pedal cars off the hold of the plane; the French boys crowd round to look at the cars; and get in to have a go. Nice M/Ss of the scouts riding off along a road; the French on bikes and the British in their pedal cars; a sign reads ’Reminder / Drive on your right’.
