The Robber Crow - A Bird Drama In High Life (1922)

“Springtime... and somewhere a frantic bluebird mother was calling in vain for help...“ reads the first intertitle. M/S of a bird on a branch - it seems to be pulling pieces from a nest and scattering them on the ground. “But, there was someone who heard ... and saw ...“ C/U of young boy in a hat who seems to be up a tree. Bird continues to worry at the nest. The boy mouths something and climbs down from the tree. “Tommy frightened that particular robber crow away... and then ran home and told Dad. So, next day...“ L/S of Tommy and his father. The father climbs a ladder which is placed against a tree. He is holding a stuffed owl which he explains will bring the crows flocking as they hate owls. The owl is fixed to a branch and the father pulls a string which moves its wings. The father then hides with Tommy and his gun and starts to make the call of the crow. M/S of the two inside a hide made from rocks and pieces of wood. C/U of the father using a special whistle to make the sound of a crow
