Intertitle - ’Hebburn’ (Tyne and Wear) - M/S as a boat arrives at the dock with dignitaries onboard, brief M/S of Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI) and the Duchess of York (later Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother) on the boat. M/S as dock workers wave. M/S as the royal couple get off the boat. M/S of new coal staith which picks up coal from railway wagons and puts them in holds of ships. L/S of Duchess on platform setting it in motion. Various shots of the staith. L/S as the Duke and Duchess walk along followed by dignitaries. M/S as she pulls the curtain revealing a plaque, C/U of plaque saying she opened the staith. L/S of people waving as they pass.
