The Ancestor Of Man? (1931)

“Deep in the heart of the Kuru district of the Congo live the last survivors of the giant gorilla, and many expeditions have been made to study their lives.“ Panning shot of a mountainous landscape. “This expedition had special permission to kill a giant which was creating trouble near the bushmen’s homes.“ M/S of group of tribal huntsmen walking through long grass carrying spears. Group of men follow behind carrying a wooden construction on their shoulders upon which is a large gorilla (dead). They lay it on the ground and two white men in safari suits examine the gorilla. “This nightmare would be a tough fellow to meet in the depths of the jungle...!“ The gorilla is propped up on a kind of gallows. He is hung up by his wrists and two tribesmen stand beside him to show his height. It is quite horrific. “Now, do you believe in fairies?“ One of the men touches the gorilla’s chin.
