The Robot Door (1931)

A device which makes doors open automatically is demonstrated. The electric door from 1931! M/S of a waitress walking towards a door with a sign that reads: “Service“ above it. The “robot door“ opens as she approaches, showing a chef standing in the kitchen beyond. The door closes behind her. “Using this door, “Nippy“ has less chance of an accident with her trays - “ Closer shot of the waitress walking into shot then towards the door. The door opens and closes. C/U of the gadget which operates the door. “This ingenious device relies on a beam of light and a photo-electric cell. When the beam is “broken“ by “Nippy“ passing, special valve amplifiers start the machine working and the door opens - “ Two waitresses walk through the door.
