“Short Shots“ From “Sons O’ Guns“ (1930)

“Sons O’Guns“ is the new Musical Play at the Hippodrome in London. Bobby Howes and Robert Hale do a comedy routine based on weight loss. A slimming machine is used (one where a belt is put around a man’s waist and it vibrates). The belt is then put around his neck for comic effect. When he emerges from the machine he is still shaking. He tries to drink a glass of liquid but he has the shakes. “Fast Footers“ - Bernice (Rosie Moran) and the girls put their best foot forward -“ M/S of a line of chorus girls in a kind of uniform with long boots do a dance routine. L/S of them doing a high kick routine then standing to attention and saluting. M/S of a dancer performing an acrobatic routine involving gymnastics. Robert Hale and Bobby Howes do a military sketch. Routine revolves around Bobby’s incompetence during basic drills. Was an item in Eve’s Film Review issue number 477 (paper records state 476 but title card reads 477).
