Full title reads: “Proclamation of the New Sovereign George VI“. London. After abdication of King Edward VIII (Prince of Wales, Duke of Windsor) an official announcement declared Prince Albert (Duke of York), King George VI. Various shots of members of Accession Council gathering at St. James’ Palace. Good C/U of Winston Churchill in ceremonial uniform and cocked hat. According to narrator the date is 12th December 1936. Large crowds watch from pavements. M/S of men in ceremonial robes on Palace balcony. They are lead out by Hereditary Earl Marshal of England, the Duke of Norfolk. After the heralds play a fanfare, the Garter King of Arms reads from scroll proclaiming Prince Albert the new king of England. The National Anthem - ’God Save the King’ - is played.
