Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio on vocals was my great inspiration. The combination of Ritchie Blackmore’s guitar, the enormous power of Ronnie James Dio combined with the mystical lyrics had and still have me enchanted. This nearly hidden gem (Rainbow Eyes) from Long live Rock and Roll is a foresight to what Ritchie Blackmore was about to do 20 years later. I decided to do a full cover of it. Really liked rerecording all the different parts of the song, was quit a job to find out what all the strings and flute were playing, but it’s all part of the joy. Hope you like it. Here’s a full cover of Rainbow eyes by Rainbow, with a video to add some flavour to the story. All instruments, vocals, editing, mixing and videocomposition yours truly. Enjoy!

She’s been gone since yesterday
Oh I didn’t care
Never cared for yesterdays
Fancies in the air
No sighs or mysteries
She lay golden in the sun
No broken harmonies
But I’ve lost my way
She had rainbow eyes
Rainbow eyes
Rainbow eyes
Love should be a simple blend
A whispering on the shore
No clever words you can’t defend
They lead to never more
No sighs or mysteries
She lay golden in the sun
No broken harmonies
But I’ve lost my way
She had rainbow eyes
Rainbow eyes
Rainbow eyes
Summer nights are colder now
They’ve taken down the fair
And all the lights have died somehow
Or were they ever there
No sighs or mysteries
She lay golden in the sun
No broken harmonies
But I’ve lost my way
She had rainbow eyes
Uuh, uuh
