Scene from whisky galore

A clip from the movie Whisky Galore! (1949), where a ship full of whisky sinks along the Outer Hebrides during a particularly acute wartime shortage. The locals try to plunder cases of the whisky before the head local Home Guard officer, a regular Inspector Javert, can rouse disinterested -- and thirsty -- parties to secure the cargo.
