JWST’s view of the Ring Nebula

JWST observed the Ring Nebula with its NIRCam instrument on 4 August 2022. The images, which are released today, reveal intricate details never seen before and a wealth of complicated structure. This animation shows some of the details. The image is a composite made using images taken in three different filters: F335M (red), F300M (green) and F212N (blue). The different filters isolate emission from different parts of the nebula. A higher resolution video is also available:
