The downpour, which lasted about an hour, caused flooding in several areas of Accra. The amount of precipitation reached more than 20 liters per square meter. Footage of the flooding quickly spread on social media. The streets turned into rivers, people looked for safe places. Many cars and motorcycles are stuck in the water. Water also seeped into the first floors and basements of buildings. Accra is the capital and largest city of Ghana. The population of the agglomeration is about 4 million people.
