“God demands that a Catholic king sit on the British throne“ Charles Edward Stuart is his name. An ambitious young man who wanted to claim the British throne for his father James Stuart, known as ’The Old Pretender’, who had seen two previous attempts to seize the throne end in failure. Charles’ last attempt was at the Battle of Culloden on 16th April 1746, when he was defeated by government forces, and consequently became a fugitive after fleeing the battle. The famous story is that Flora Macdonald answered his plea, smuggled him to the Isle of Skye, disguised him as her maid, and from there he made his way to France. His grandfather was King James II was deposed in the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and became the last catholic Monarch of England, Scotland, and Ireland. It was nice to have a little reprisal of the role in S6! I am glad I held off editing him in the past, as I wanted to have the Flora Macdonald story included as well.
