Playing Wolfenstein 3D CGA on an IBM 5150 PC

Trying to answer the question of whether the CGA edition of Wolfenstein 3D can run on real hardware - the IBM 5150 and 5153 CGA monitor. It does run, which is impressive - but not very enjoyable. :)
