Last night, Hezbollah fighters carried out missile barrages targeting the northern part of Israel. According to various estimates, between 50 and 60 munitions were launched towards populated areas of Western Galilee. Although Arab media reported successful hits, the reality was different. One part of the missiles fell in Lebanon, another managed to cross the border, but the impacts were in open terrain. The remaining 15 were intercepted. The Israel Defense Forces press service stated that there was a retaliatory strike: Israeli forces used aviation and artillery to strike the launch sites of the Shiite group on the western outskirts of the town of Yater. These were allegedly the sources of the attacks. This is unlikely to be considered a manifestation of a “new phase of the war“, as previously mentioned by Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
