It definitely works, but as a maker I think I can do better than an empty Target brand trail mix jar. I wanted to make a piggy bank that anybody would be proud to display, and have fun using as well. I knew I wanted something in the shape of an animal but I didn’t want a standard pig, dog, or cat. I wanted something that would keep my money safe that no one dared to mess with. Anybody can get past a guard dog, but no one messes with a TREX! This project was a ton of fun to make, although I had several set backs and challenges along the way. When I first started woodworking I would cut all of my pieces with the jigsaw as that was all I had available at the time and I wanted to get back to my roots. The cuts I was getting from the jigsaw were absolutely terrible. The blade was deflecting a ridiculous amount, After a few tries I had to give up
