Myth of Isis and Ra’s Secret Name | Egyptian Mythology by Milad Sidky

The Myth of Isis and Ra’s Secret name is well-known in Egyptian Mythology. It narrates how the power of the God Ra stemmed from a holy secret name that no one else knew. Whoever knew or obtained that name possessed the power to do whatever he wanted. Isis was depicted as a cunning great enchantress and healer. She created a magical serpent out of dust and made it bite Ra. Isis could have saved him, but she did this only when Ra revealed his secret name to her. Thus knowing the secret Name of Ra, Isis was equal to the sun god in power.
