DEATH METAL THEN VS. NOW feat. TheSuffocater! Old School vs. Modern Death Metal (2022) Riff Battle

In this very special installment of the Then Vs. Now series, I am joined by the riff battle legend himself TheSuffocater! I could think of noone better to represent the Old School Death Metal side of this battle. When it first emerged, the extreme nature and violent or even overtly Satanic imagery of death metal was truly shocking: nothing like it had been heard before. While some of the shock value may have dulled over time, bands have continued to push the limits to try and create the heaviest music possible, with no concern for mainstream acceptance.
