In the 1980s , unusual events were occurring all over the world. Dr. Mitarai, an international authority in astrophysics, warned that these were signs of an impending crisis for the Earth, and organized an investigative organization called SGM (Science Guard Members) by gathering experts in modern science, and built a research laboratory in the basement of his house. After the death of his mother, Yuko, who was an assistant to Dr. Mitarai, Kyotaro Kagami, a newspaper photographer, was taken in by the doctor and raised as if he were a member of the family. While reporting on the mysterious tornado damage, he is attacked by a strange phenomenon and falls into danger, but is saved by the mysterious sparkle of a mirror, and returns home to the Mitarai residence accompanied by Fujimoto of SGM, who has come to investigate the tornado damage. A mysterious figure invisible to the naked eye was captured on the film Kyotaro had taken. After hearing Kyotaro’s story, Dr. Mitarai begins to tell the secret of his birth. Kyotaro’s father was a superhuman called “Mirror Man“ who came from another dimension, “2D,“ to defend this world from the extraterrestrial invaders, the Invaders, who were captured on the film Kyotaro had taken. He lost his life in a scheme by the Invaders to invade not only the “2D“ world, but also the “3D“ world, and Yuko had no choice but to leave Kyotaro in Dr. Mitarai’s care and disappear. Kyotaro also inherited his superhuman powers from his father. Kyotaro is confused. However, his father, who was thought to be dead, still exists and sends a message to his son, Kyotaro, saying, “You will fight the invaders as Mirror Man in my place.“ The invaders attack again, break into the Mitarai residence and recapture the film. When they are chased, they transform into a giant monster. In order to protect the Earth from the invaders, his father’s enemy, Kyotaro responds to his father’s voice and transforms into Mirror Man.
