The Beatles ’A DAY IN THE LIFE’ Ultimate Remix: Sgt. Pepper’s 1967 Vocals With 2017 Instrumentation

This remix of the iconic track from The Beatles’ 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band combines elements from three excellent pre-released versions. The goal was to create a more dynamic version that showcases the best of each. The vocals come from George Martin’s original 1967 mix, where they journeyed adventurously across the stereo stage. Giles Martin (George Martin’s son) removed this effect entirely in his 2017 remix but enhanced the sound quality and fidelity of the instrumentation by using near first-generation multi-track sources. For my remix, I used Giles’ version for the instrumentation, while positioning each instrument on the stereo stage as close as possible to their original 1967 placements.
