AI Summit: VP Kamala Harris gives speech on AI safety at US Embassy

British and American spy chiefs are due to attend Rishi Sunak’s AI summit at Bletchley Park as the event gets underway today. A list of attendees at the AI Safety Summit seen by The Telegraph shows that Anne Keast-Butler, the director of GCHQ and Jen Easterly, the director of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, will attend a session on “risks to global safety” from advanced AI. Nate Fick, the US ambassador for cyberspace, and Alex van Someren, the chief scientific adviser for national security, will also be present. Chinese spy chiefs will not be attending sessions at the event but the Beijing Government has sent two ministers - Ma Shengkun of the ministry of foreign affairs, and Xing Huaibin of the department of strategy and planning. In what will be seen as a sign of global co-operation, Mr Ma will attend a session also attended by US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and Ben Buchanan, the director of the White House National Security Council.
