How the fast idle wax unit works

This is a short video on how the fast idle wax unit works on a VFR800 (VTEC model). The basic premise is the same for any bike fitted with a fast idle wax unit. Both the fast idle wax unit AND the idle speed adjustment operate the same mechanism. When the engine is cold, the idle speed adjustment does absolutely nothing, because the fast idle wax unit has precedence. Idle screw speed control is only relevant for a hot engine.
