S. Korea-Poland defense ministers vow to boost cooperation in bilateral defense, arms industry

한-폴란드 국방장관 “국방•방산협력 심화” 폴란드 수출 FA-50 ’1호기’ 출고 South Korea and Poland have agreed to boost cooperation in the defense sector. The agreement was made on Wednesday between the nation’s defense minister Lee Jong-sup and his Polish counterpart Mariusz Blaszczak. They put pen to paper on a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint ministerial committee on bilateral defense and arms industry cooperation. The two also agreed to deepen cooperation with mutual visits by their troops that operate the same weapons systems. In a symbolic display of the two countries’ growing cooperation, a roll-out ceremony was held in Sacheon for the first FA-50GFs. South Korea plans to supply twelve of the light combat aircraft from August until the end of this year, as part of a 3 billion U.S. dollar, 48-unit deal.
