Are you on the fence about getting a dyslexia diagnosis? In this video, we go over some of the reasons why getting a dyslexia diagnosis can be a great idea.
Diagnosis often allows dyslexics access to additional resources, points to effective intervention for children, and can explain why somebody is struggling, which can be a huge relief. While some parents are afraid that their child will be stigmatized if they seek a diagnosis, research shows that the label can be a protective factor against low self-esteem where the experience of struggling academically may be the cause.
An early diagnosis means that intervention is more effective. So it would be ill-advised to wait for the child to catch up.
So if you are on the fence about getting a dyslexia diagnosis, don’t be! It is likely to be a positive experience.

🙋🏼♂️ My name is Arije, and I am a dyslexic with an MA in Education Studies. I aim to share all my tips for learning, coping, teaching, and more on my channel. My aim is to help you understand what dyslexia is and how to work with those that have it. Because I believe that, as the most common hidden learning disability, dyslexia needs to be seen to be understood.
