GANGSTER For JAMRONI (Hamish Daud - Raihan Khan), being considered an outcast, in his small town in Yogyakarta at the base of the Volcano Merapi, is the reality of the circumstances and decisions made throughout life. Despite trying his best to help others, trouble constantly finds him. Since childhood, Jamroni’s dream was to take care of SARI (Eriska Rein - Avrilla Sigarlaki) and live happily with her. Life had other plans. Jamroni’s life at home wasn’t healthy as his father was always quick to get angry and punish him by forcing him to sleep outside with the barn animals. Jamroni would use this time to reflect upon himself and train in martial arts to become stronger. Sari would usually visit him to make sure he was not hungry, bringing a smile to his face. This would all end when Sari’s parents leave town and take her to Jakarta. Taking from others to get rich quick is a general principle of thieves and robbers, but luckily Jamroni is there to stop them. This leads to another misunderstanding and has to face the CHIEF CATTLE RANCHER (Dede Yusuf) one on one. Shortly after the brawl he finds out that his father TOHARI (Gunawan Maryanto) is very sick. On his deathbed, Tohari reveals that Jamroni is not truly his child and that he has been hiding Sari’s letters to Jamroni ever since she left the town. After grieving, Jamroni makes a life changing decision to find Sari in Jakarta and find out who he truly is. Coincidentally, just as Jamroni leaves Sari pays a visit to her hometown. Upon arriving in Jakarta, local thugs spot Jamroni and think he is an easy target to shake down. Jamroni fights back defending himself, chased throughout the city, only to almost get run over by a car. He escapes on the hood of the car as RETTA (Nina Kozok) continues to drive off as she too is being chased by a black SUV. Despite their unusual meeting circumstances, Retta recognizes his kindness, sincerity and courage which in turn lead her to hire him as a temporary bodyguard, a job that proves to be very troublesome for Jamroni. Things get especially dangerous when SUEB (Ganindra Bimo), a cold blooded killer, encounters the both of them. Retta reveals to Jamroni that her father, HASTOMO (Agus Kuncoro), made a business deal with AMSAR (Dwi Sasono), the leader of a very influential organization, where she was to marry Amsar’s little brother. Both Amsar and Hastomo search for Retta using any means necessary. Amsar continues to increase his efforts to search for Retta and Jamroni and sends his Second in Command and LIEUTENANT (Kelly Tandiano) to find the strongest person she knows to hunt them down. She tracks down BANG JANGKUNG (Yayan Ruhian), but instead encounters his CURRENT GIRLFRIEND (Dian Sastrowardoyo) who does not appreciate the visit. Retta decides to return home, but not before coming up with a plan involving Jamroni. She gives Jamroni a makeover and upon arriving at home introduces him not only as her boyfriend but also her fiancé. Hastomo, displeased, cannot go against the wishes of his daughter and wife ASTUTI (Dominque Sanda) allowing Jamroni to marry Retta. Amsar, furious with Hastomo for violating their agreement and the apparent humiliation, gathers his organization’s members and assembles at Hastomo’s home. Assisted by his men, his Lieutenant and Bang Jangkung “justice“ is sought. Jamroni is torn between love and a feeling of being used by Retta. Will he stop looking for Sari? Will he overcome everything that life has in store for him? At the end of the day, who will come out on top and be the strongest GANGSTER?
