The “Planet of the Apes“ franchise, spanning over 55 years, features a few distinct continuities over 9 live-action films and one television series. The films introduce us to a planet where apes have reached the pinnacle of civilization, reducing humans to a subjugated, enslaved class. The first timeline included five movies made in the late 60’s and early 70’s, all fitting into a single closed loop. The era also included a short-lived 1974 TV series, reimagining the first film’s narrative over 14 episodes in a new timeline. It was then rebooted in 2001 by Tim Burton. A decade later, the franchise was reinvigorated once again with a phenomenal reboot trilogy featuring Andy Serkis as Caesar.
