Near the highest peaks in the eastern USA is a mainly roadless area called Big Ivy. It is home to hiking trails, large sections of old growth forest, and many cascades and waterfalls. I spent the better part of a day hiking and bushwhacking a loop that took us up to the tops of ridges and back down through coves and streams, through deep forests and past many waterfalls and campsites.
