Murad’s designs feature a foundation of crinolined curves adorned with illusion tulle, and he has lavishly decorated his dresses with various embellishments, including embroidery, lace, organza, satin, sequins, and silver beads. His creations showcase intricate 3-D floral embroideries, meticulously sewn petal by petal, cascading over both short and long dresses, draping gracefully over the underlying corsetry. While Murad claimed he wasn’t targeting the red carpet, some dresses, like a short one adorned with coral and red petals or a long one in soft gray-green and pink watercolor hues, could easily grace rising starlets. However, a more stringent edit might have improved the pantsuits and the coral, mauve, and anise-colored series. Nonetheless, Murad successfully achieved a fairy-tale effect with his collection. Speaking of fairy-tale endings, Murad’s bridal gown, extravagantly embroidered with a 13-foot train and matching veil, serves as a reminder of his thriving wedding attire business, churning out five to six gowns monthly. Creating this particular masterpiece required the dedicated work of two shifts of 30 embroiderers for an entire month. Murad acknowledges that this gown is far from ordinary and evokes the opulence of “A Thousand and One Nights“ and beyond.
