The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth studio album by the British rock band Pink Floyd, released on March 1, 1973. It is their most successful album and made Pink Floyd a worldwide phenomenon. One of the best-selling albums in the history of the recording industry, it stayed in the US TOP-200 for 742 weeks, including 591 consecutive weeks (!!!) from 1973 to 1988, taking the first place several times. “The Dark Side of the Moon“ is one of the most famous concept albums of progressive rock and a real musical symbol of 1973.
This record was created using the latest advances in recording technology of the early 1970s, including multitracking, analog synthesizers, and various magnetic recording effects. Using new 24-track recording equipment at London’s Abbey Road Studios and the work of sound engineers Alan Parsons and Chris Thomas, The Dark Side of the Moon set new standards for pristine sound reproduction and became something of a benchmark for quality over the years (in particular, it became one of the definitive test records for evaluating the quality of hi-fi equipment).
On March 24, Pink Floyd released the box set “The Dark Side of the Moon“ in honor of the album’s 50th anniversary. The box includes a remastered version of the original CD, Live at Wembley Empire Pool, and more.
At #1973fest, the tribute band Terminal Frost presented the album “The Dark Side of the Moon“ live from beginning to end to the audience of the festival, for demanding music lovers, the corresponding video sequence was also prepared for the big festival screen.
#1973fest is the latest festival of a series of unique music tribute festivals in Russia, where the performances of all artists are tied to a specific calendar year in the history of world culture and society. The festival took place on March 25, 2023 at the Base Club in Moscow, Russia.
