The wreck of IJN OITE - Truk Lagoon 2015

The 1,400-ton Imperial Japanese Navy destroyer Oite was sunk by Task Force 58 Grumman Avenger torpedo bombers on 18 February 1944 during the U.S. strike codename Operation Hailstone. She broke her back at speed, split in two and sank with great loss of life. Her wreck now rests in 62msw up near North Pass through the barrier reef around Truk Lagoon
