Steven Holl Architects’ Hunters Point Library

Located on a prominent site along the East River in Gantry Plaza State Park, the Hunters Point Library was designed by Steven Holl Architects and opened in 2019. To maximize green space, the architects designed a vertical structure with an aluminum painted concrete shell. Large windows are carved out of the shell, with views of the Manhattan skyline. Stairs connect multiple levels for children, teen and adult program areas. Nearby you’ll find the French bakery Cannelle for a wonderful selection of pastries and sandwiches.
