Making an oval mirror sconce, part one

This model with its oak leaf wreath is a replica of a Swedish 18th Century model. The original piece was made by the Swedish mirror maker Niclas Meunier (1730-1797). He started his own mirror factory in 1754 and at 1769 he was awarded the title as The Royal Court Mirror Maker. The frame is made out of pine and joint together in the traditional half and half style and the lower part is for the Candle holder in brass. The top piece is carved in Lime Wood. In part two we will show the gilding process.
