In his talk Professor Zhelev explains what we can learn from making and breaking a thousand human hearts. Abertay University researchers have developed tiny human hearts, just 1 mm in diameter, which beat on their own accord. They are made from stem cells, which are reprogrammed to become cardiomyocytes (cells that make up the heart).
