Yair Lapid becomes Israel’s interim prime minister taking over from Naftali Bennett

Yair Lapid has become Israel’s interim prime minister - taking over from Naftali Bennett after just one year in office. Lapid, who heads a centrist party, will lead the country as it heads towards elections in November. The handover follows last week’s collapse of a coalition which he formed with Bennett. Lapid faces a tough challenge from former prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who has vowed to return to power. Bennett will not run in the election by Political Analyst Emily Schrader.
