Davos 2019 - Press Conference The Value of Digital Identity for the Global Economy and Society
Digital identity can increase political and social inclusion, facilitate protection of rights, and promote transparency. It can also drive inclusive economic growth and create substantial value for individuals, governments, and businesses around the world. A forthcoming McKinsey Global Institute report, to be launched at this press conference by MGI Chairman James Manyika, finds that countries implementing “good” use of digital identity could create economic value equivalent to 3-6 percent of GDP on average by 2030. To unlock that potential, we need to create a shared definition and standards that ensure digital identity is safe, secure and respectful of privacy and other fundamental rights.
