Into the Octagon

The short film “Veres,” directed by Alexander Irinarkhov, follows young Viktoria through her transition from amateur martial artist to professional fighter. Scenes of daily practice and intimate moments of maternal care are juxtaposed with footage of ruthless fights in the modern-day Coliseum – the combination creating a stark portrait of a woman dedicated to her chosen profession.
