Stevie Wonder’s newfound burst of energy more than made up for his previous project the languid “The Secret Life Of Plants“ LP of 1979. It dropped very unexpectedly so soon after but was not unwelcome, it contained “Master Blaster“ and a country infused funk tune “I Ain’t Gonna Stand For It“ sung with a country twang that perfectly fit in with the variety of beats Wonder created for the “Hotter Than July“ album. Usually Wonder would take inordinate amounts of time to release an album sometimes two or three years, but he always performed on the charts.
