Thousands of Israelis protest Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in Tel Aviv

Thousands of Israelis are protesting the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv and calling for an election. The crowd blocked streets and some are calling for the government to increase their efforts to help hostages taken by Hamas during the October 7 attack. Mr Netanyahu has seen his popularity drop in opinion polls following the October 7 attacks. A small group of protestors started a fire and fought with police before the blaze fire was quickly extinguished. According to Gaza health authorities over 31,500 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s ground and air campaign, with millions displaced.
